Promerch PPS

Spray-On Paint
Protection FAQ

Clear answers about Promerch PPS — the patented spray-on TPU paint protection system. How it works, how it compares to PPF and ceramic coatings, what it costs, and how to get it installed.

What is spray-on paint protection (Promerch PPS)?

Promerch PPS (Paint Protection Spray) is a patented spray-on TPU paint protection system. Instead of a pre-cut film, a professional sprays on a multi-layer, elastic, peelable TPU coating that protects the vehicle’s paint. Because it is sprayed, it has no film edges or seams and can cover complex curves, bumpers, mirrors, wide-body kits, and aerodynamic parts that traditional film struggles with. It can be applied clear or with custom color.

How is PPS different from traditional paint protection film (PPF)?

Both protect paint, but PPF is a pre-manufactured film installed by cutting, stretching, and wrapping edges — which can show seams, exposed edges, dirt buildup, or edge-lifting on complex shapes. Promerch PPS is sprayed on, so there are no film edges, no blade cutting, and it forms a seamless layer that suits curved or modified surfaces. PPS is not a total replacement for PPF in every case; it is a different system with its own advantages, especially on complex vehicles and when applied by trained installers.

Is PPS the same as a ceramic coating?

No. A ceramic coating is a thin hydrophobic surface layer that adds gloss and easier cleaning but offers little physical impact protection. Promerch PPS is a much thicker elastic TPU layer engineered to absorb impacts from road debris and light scratches. A ceramic coating can optionally be added on top of PPS for extra hydrophobic performance.

Is PPS like a vinyl wrap or Plasti Dip?

No. Vinyl wrap and Plasti Dip are cosmetic. Vinyl is a thin film for appearance, and Plasti Dip is a temporary rubberized coating. Promerch PPS is patented TPU — the same material family used in premium paint protection film — engineered for real impact resistance and durability, not just looks.

What are the layers of the PPS system?

Promerch PPS is a multi-layer system, not a single coating: (1) Isolation Primer that helps adhesion while separating the TPU from the original paint for cleaner removal; (2) an optional color or pearl layer; (3) the elastic TPU protective layer that provides thickness and impact protection; (4) a protective topcoat for gloss, UV, and contamination resistance; and (5) an optional ceramic coating on top.

Will PPS damage my original paint? Can it be removed?

PPS is designed to protect the paint while staying peelable. The Isolation Primer reduces direct adhesion so that, over paint in good condition and when installed and cured correctly, it can later be peeled off cleanly. No peelable system can guarantee zero risk on every car — repainted, repaired, aged, or unstable paint may carry higher removal risk — so a professional installer should inspect the vehicle first.

How long does PPS last, and is there a warranty?

Promerch PPS is backed by a 10-year warranty when completed with official Promerch materials, installed per Promerch procedures by a qualified installer. It helps reduce damage from road debris, light scratches, bug splatter, bird droppings, and UV exposure. It does not guarantee protection against all rock chips, accidents, or deep damage. Exact coverage and exclusions follow the latest official warranty policy.

Will PPS turn yellow over time?

The topcoat is designed to improve weather resistance and gloss retention and to reduce long-term yellowing. Yellowing can still be affected by application quality, curing, UV exposure, environment, and maintenance. Yellowing-related coverage is subject to the current official warranty (presently a 10-year warranty).

How much does spray-on paint protection cost?

The final price depends on vehicle size, how much of the car is covered (full or partial), clear vs. color finish, the color type (stock, custom, or special), vehicle complexity, and installer location and labor. There is no single fixed price. To get an accurate quote, provide your vehicle year/make/model, location, coverage, and whether you want clear or color PPS — an authorized installer can then quote you.

Can PPS be applied in any color?

Yes. Promerch PPS can be clear or finished in virtually any color — gloss, satin, or matte — including stock colors, custom colors, special colors, and pearl effects. This provides protection and a customized appearance at the same time. Specific colors and pricing are confirmed with the installer based on the vehicle and plan.

How long does installation take?

Spraying itself is often around 5 hours, but a full project also includes cleaning, masking, primer, color/clear layer, TPU layer, topcoat, and curing. A full-body project generally takes about 2 to 3 days. Some certified Inner Circle installers can complete a vehicle faster. The exact timeline is evaluated by the installer.

Is PPS a DIY product?

No. PPS is not a DIY product. It requires professional spray equipment, a controlled environment, correct material handling, and trained experience. For proper results and warranty eligibility, it should be installed by a trained professional installer.

Where can I get Promerch PPS installed near me?

PPS must be applied by a professional installer with spray capability. You can find certified Promerch PPS installers on the official website, promerchpps.com, or request a quote and we will match you with the closest certified shop. If there is no installer in your area yet, contact Promerch and we can help coordinate an option.

What kind of shops install PPS, and how do I become a certified installer?

Suitable shops include automotive paint shops, detailing shops, PPF and wrap shops, collision and body repair shops, and custom automotive shops — anywhere with a controlled spray environment and spray experience. Promerch offers online and in-person training and certification. Shops interested in joining the dealer network can apply through the Become a Dealer page on promerchpps.com.

Who is PPS best for?

PPS suits vehicle owners who want to protect their original paint, avoid the edges and seams of traditional film, cover complex curves or modified parts, achieve a seamless look, or add clear or colored protection. It is best delivered through professional installers and is not a regular consumer DIY product.
